Made In Italy- 78 Years of History, Art and Creativity - Our Story

About Us

How it began....1945

In 1945 a young German immigrant, Harold Mayer, came to New York from Frankfurt Germany and  began importing stationery products into the American market. On one of his overseas trips to Florence Italy, he forged a relationship with an Italian Artisan Family, and created together with his counterpart Gino a unique line of Wax Seal Stamps, still sold in it’s original form until today – now interestingly described as “vintage”.

As the first company to introduce sealing wax and wax seal stamps to the “modern” American
Gift Market in the 1950s, the company expanded into the wholesale market
(Remember-there was no internet back then!) and began to successfully create,
package and distribute to fine retail stores in the US and all over the world. Through
these years the company ownership passed through two families, each of which
had it’s owner grow with the company and learn the entrepreneurial spirit from
the ground up.

Fast Forward 1998

In 1998 we launched our first retail website known as Nostalgic Impressions, as we saw the need to bring our products directly to the end-user.  We started our first engraving processes on modern
day laser machines to enable us to bring custom engraved wax seal stamps directly to our customers in a quick fashion.

Where we are today...2023

A Family (and Women)-owned and run company, Monika (Mother)  and Janine (Daughter) have proudly strived to continue our traditions, values and mission, and  our close  relationship with our Italian and European  friends and suppliers have never been stronger.

You can still find our products in fine Paper Shops and Museum Stores around US and overseas, but most especially, here at Nostalgic  Impressions, our retail arm on the internet since 1998.

Our Mission

A passion for the Art of Wax Sealing and Fine Writing Accessories aimed to  enhance our modern world writing experiences with Old World Charm and Elegance. Imported into the USA from all over the world, but most especially Italy, where our connection to Italian craftsmanship has lasted for decades.
